Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cor Nepgen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Stevens might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Enter Sandman. The key to victory for James Stevens has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stevens avoids a punch combination nicely.
Stevens lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Stevens tries to bum rush Nepgen with a series of wild strikes but Nepgen uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Nepgen fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Stevens to the ground. Nepgen is now in Stevens's guard.

Stevens knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nepgen on the ground.

Stevens is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Nepgen is controlling him well.
Nepgen lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Stevens down.
Stevens is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Nepgen has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stevens rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nepgen moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Nepgen looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Nepgen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Stevens tries to clinch up but Nepgen circles away and keeps his distance.
Stevens shoots in but Nepgen avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Stevens scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Stevens keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Nepgen shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Stevens manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Stevens wants to stand and escape but Nepgen is having none of it.
Stevens is breathing heavily.
Stevens on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Stevens tries to get out of the position.
Stevens keeping moving, preventing Nepgen from controlling successfully.
Nepgen slips nicely into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nepgen takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Stevens pushes Nepgen off looking to stand but Nepgen dives back in and keeps control.

Nepgen trying to control the action but Stevens is working from the bottom.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Stevens is looking to get back to is feet but Nepgen passes into side control.
Nepgen lands an elbow.
Nepgen cracks Stevens with a big right hand but Stevens just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Nepgen throws a right and a left that Stevens avoids nicely.
Nepgen slips a jab and a cross from Stevens.
Stevens stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Stevens.
Nepgen fails with the takedown.
A nice leg kick lands there from Stevens.
Nepgen doesn't manage to clinch there - Stevens circles away.

Stevens tries to sprawl but Nepgen drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Stevens scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Nepgen manages to mount him!
Nepgen scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
