Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hector Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rubens Charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Charles comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Reign kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hector Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rubens Charles!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Charles misses with a takedown attempt - Alves sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Charles blocks a leg kick.
Alves misses with the combination.
Alves scores with a three punch combo!


It looks like Rubens Charles has been cut.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Alves.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Charles tries to bench press Alves off him but Alves keeps the position.
Charles struggling a bit here.
Charles is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Charles is refusing to be controlled, as Alves sits in half guard.
Charles wants to get back to full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Hector Alves just wasn't active enough.
Alves will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Alves fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Charles on the side of the head.

Charles is trying to escape the position but Alves is controlling the position.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Hector Alves.
Alves goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Alves looks to land a combination. Charles sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Alves lands with a nice combination. Charles backs away looking to recover.
Alves throws a series of punches but Charles moves out of range.
Alves lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Charles circles away quickly and effectively.
Alves lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Charles dodges the punch combination from Alves.
Alves misses with a wild combination.
Charles closes this distance looking for a takedown but Alves circles away.
Charles fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Sloppy strikes from Alves. Those never looked like landing.
Alves fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Charles will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hector Alves has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rubens Charles.
Alves shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Charles eats them both and turns towards Alves to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Charles tries to score a power double leg takedown but Alves sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Charles somewhat.

Alves leaves Charles with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Hector Alves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Alves throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Charles doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Alves throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Charles.
Alves tried to score with a low kick but Charles checks it.
Hector Alves is winning the standup battle so far.

Charles shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Alves sprawls well. Alves wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Charles gets slowly back to his feet.

Alves feints a jab promting Charles to slip. Alves then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Charles slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Alves rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Charles moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Charles shoots in and bounces Alves off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Charles postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Alves is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Charles, into his guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Alves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Charles swivels though and keeps the full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Alves wants to control from the top but Charles keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Charles shoots for a double leg takedown but Alves sprawls well. He's pushed Charles's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Charles drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Alves manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Charles has Alves in his guard.

Alves is pushing down on Charles's leg trying to pass to half guard. Charles is fighting to maintain full guard but Alves has managed to sneak the leg through.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Well Alves has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
