The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Kelkinof tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jr swivels and escapes.
Jr moves in looking to clinch but Van Kelkinof pushes him off.

Van Kelkinof stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jr swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jr is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Van Kelkinof has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Van Kelkinof wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jr, who protects the arm well.

Van Kelkinof tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Van Kelkinof has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
