PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh Henderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Josh Henderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Lee!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Bruno Hogan and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee loads up on a big right hand but Henderson slips the punch.
Lee misses with a takedown

and Henderson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Henderson looking to pass the guard.
Lee trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Henderson thows a big elbow that misses.
Lee is trying to control the position but Henderson postures up.
Lee is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Lee is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jack Lee.

Henderson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Lee is looking to control Henderson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lee avoid being mounted?
Henderson trying to control from half guard but Lee is working away.
Lee wants to control but Henderson is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Henderson prevents Lee from standing back up.
Henderson is looking to take a break and control but Lee is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Henderson stalling away here and it's allowed Lee to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Henderson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lee on the ground.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Henderson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Lee tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Henderson wants to stand but Lee has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lee has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Henderson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Lee will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Henderson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Henderson wants to control from the top but Lee keeps moving.

Lee had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Henderson defends it easily.

Lee is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Henderson wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Henderson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Henderson wants to control from the top but Lee keeps moving.
Lee trying to keep a closed guard but Henderson is proving a slippery customer.
Lee should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Henderson tries to stand but Lee is controlling from the bottom.
Lee has his hands on Henderson's head, controlling the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Josh Henderson.
Henderson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Henderson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Lee sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Lee throws a hook to the side of Henderson's head but Henderson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Lee has his takedown stuffed
and Henderson counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Lee shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Henderson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Lee thinking.

Henderson gets the takedown into side control.
Henderson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lee keeps working.

Lee tries to improve position but can't.
Henderson is looking to take a break and control but Lee is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Lee wants to control but Henderson postures up.
Lee tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Henderson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Henderson wants to control but Lee is keeping him busy.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Lee tries to bench press Henderson off him but Henderson keeps the position.

Henderson decides to stand up, so the ref orders Lee to his feet.
A right-left combo lands from Henderson.
Lee drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Henderson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Lee closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Henderson's guard.

Lee stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Henderson wants to clinch

and Lee counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Henderson's guard now.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Henderson is looking for a triangle but Lee pushes his legs off easily.
Lee engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Henderson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lee defends well.
Lee wants to control from the top but Henderson keeps moving.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Josh Henderson dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Henderson shoots in looking for a takedown but Lee manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Henderson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Lee has his takedown stuffed
and Henderson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Lee shoots in and bounces Henderson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Lee won't allow Henderson to sweep him here.

Lee postures up in Henderson's guard and throws a big left but Henderson blocks it.
Lee works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Lee works his foot free and advances to mount.
Jack Lee has got the better of the ground game so far.
Lee controlling the position easily from mount.
Henderson is trying to stand.

Henderson is squirming around, avoiding Lee's attempts to control the action.
Henderson is in a horrible position here. Lee smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Henderson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Lee with shots to the head and body - Henderson looks very uncomfortable down there.
Henderson is wriggling around trying to escape.
Lee takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Lee trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Lee sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Henderson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Henderson tries to get out of the position.

Lee looking to finish Henderson with some ground and pound. This is bad for Henderson!

Jack Lee comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Henderson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
