PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Wayne Banner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeremy Sacks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jeremy Sacks struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 136.5lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wayne Banner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeremy Sacks!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banner fails with a takedown attempt.
Sacks takes one to the side of the head.
Banner shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sacks pinned against the cage. Sacks gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Banner misses with a double jab.
Banner shoots for a double leg takedown but Sacks sprawls well. He's pushed Banner's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wayne Banner. That's going to take a lot out of him.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sacks is on top in guard.

Banner throws and elbow that misses. Sacks uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Banner's guard. Nice move by Sacks!

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jeremy Sacks.
Banner tries to clinch up but Sacks circles away and keeps his distance.

and Sacks counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Sacks leaves Banner with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Banner closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sacks to the mat! Sacks manages to get full guard.

Banner makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Banner postures up in Sacks's guard and throws a big left but Sacks blocks it.

Sacks bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Banner's guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Wayne Banner will probably get the nod.

Sacks pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Banner is keeping the position for now.

Banner is pulling down on Sacks's head. It's preventing any offense from Sacks, at least for the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Banner looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Banner shoots in for a double leg but Sacks sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Sacks stuffs the takedown attempt from Banner. Banner gets slowly back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Banner shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sacks as he jumps to the side.
Banner takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Sacks throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Banner on the side of the head.

and Sacks counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Sacks trying to control but Banner is working from the bottom.
Sacks seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Banner knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sacks on the ground.
Sacks looking to sit in guard and control but Banner gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Sacks is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sacks is on top in guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jeremy Sacks showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Sacks stuffs the takedown attempt from Banner. Banner gets slowly back to his feet.
Banner takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Banner fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Banner throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sacks's waist but Sacks gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Banner off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wayne Banner. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The fight stays on the outside here - Banner looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Sacks is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Banner.
Banner tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sacks sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Banner somewhat.

so Sacks counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Banner can't keep his opponent in guard - Sacks advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Sacks uses his free foot to push down on Banner's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Banner.

Sacks avoids the attempt from Banner to control.
Sacks trying to control but Banner is having none of it.
Sacks wants to take his opponent's back but Banner doesn't allow it.

Sacks working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.

Sacks is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Banner with him. Banner is trying to defend but Sacks has an arm under the chin now! Banner grimaces and is forced to tap out!
