And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Michael Riley!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Viktor Lagutenko and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzalez falls off balance throwing a combination

and Riley counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Riley thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Riley takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Gonzalez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Riley on the ground.
Riley throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Gonzalez misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Riley drops back looking for a leg! Gonzalez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gonzalez manages to kick Riley off! Riley jumps back into Gonzalez's guard.

Riley thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Riley is trying to drag Gonzalez to the mat but Gonzalez just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

and Riley counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Riley.

Riley tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Gonzalez's elbow.
Riley tries to throw a body punch but Gonzalez avoids it by throwing Riley back against the cage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Riley thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Riley is looking to take a break and control but Gonzalez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Riley is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gonzalez is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gonzalez has escaped and now he's on top!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Riley accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Riley has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Gonzalez is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Riley yanks on the arm and Gonzalez is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Riley.
