Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vic Mercer!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Renton!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Wesley Smith and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mercer throws a jab when Renton was well out of range.
Mercer lands a glancing blow to the side of Renton's head.
Renton misses with a leg kick.

Mercer throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Mercer fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Renton avoids it really well and circles away.
Renton just misses with a punch to the body.
Renton misses with a hook. Mercer ducked under it nicely.
Vic Mercer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mercer connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Renton's hands.

Renton fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mercer avoids it really well and circles away.
Renton takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Mercer closes the distance and clinches up with Renton, looking for a takedown. Mercer pushes Renton against the cage but Renton circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mercer thuds his right hand into Renton's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Mercer is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Renton manages to regain half guard whilst avoiding the strikes.
Mercer seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Renton does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Renton with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Mercer to score with a decent uppercut.

Renton fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mercer manages to avoid it.
Renton moves forwards but Mercer connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Renton throws out a loose jab but Mercer uses good head movement to avoid it.

Mercer creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Renton sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Mercer cracks Renton with a big right hand but Renton just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Well Mercer has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
