The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Felipe Paraventi and Mauricio Rocha.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Darnielle.
Alves misses with a few strikes there.
Darnielle throws a nice outside leg kick.
A solid leg kick lands there for Darnielle.
Darnielle throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Darnielle checks a leg kick.
Darnielle connects with a body shot that sends Alves's belly button to the back.
Darnielle lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Alves throws a series of punches but Darnielle moves out of range.
Alves steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Darnielle. That one must have hurt.
Darnielle lands a head kick. Alves smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Alves attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Darnielle pushes Alves away with a front kick.

Darnielle throws a nice outside leg kick.
Darnielle scores with a spinning back kick!
Darnielle ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Alves looks gassed!
An inside leg kick lands from Darnielle.
Alves takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Darnielle lands a head kick. Alves smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

It looks like Joao Alves has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Darnielle tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Darnielle feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Alves's calf.
Darnielle connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Alves momentarily.

Alves is rocked!
Darnielle dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Alves is still on wobbly legs! Can Darnielle finish him?
Darnielle connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Darnielle lands a brutal head kick. Alves looks out on his feet and Darnielle throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
