The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Gracie shoots for a takedown but Gomes saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Gracieis looking to pass into half guard but Gomes pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Gomes is in guard.
Gracie is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Gracie is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Gomes sees it coming and defends easily.

Gomes is refusing to be controlled, as Gracie sits in half guard.

Gracie is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gomes is just riding it out for now. Gracie eventually gives up the hold.

Gomes is defending against the submission attempts here by Gracie.

Gracie looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Mauro Gomes is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
