PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ratt Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rymy Eetu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Hughes might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Country boy can survive. Rymy Eetu is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rymy Eetu!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Wesley Smith and George Francis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes closes the distance and clinches up with Eetu, looking for a takedown. Hughes pushes Eetu against the cage but Eetu circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Hughes throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Eetu.
Eetu shoots in for a takedown but Hughes shows good takedown defense.
Hughes stuffs the takedown attempt from Eetu. Eetu gets slowly back to his feet.

and Eetu counters with a single leg into guard. Hughes didn't expect that.

Eetu thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Hughes has a closed guard, preventing Eetu from standing up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Eetu passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Eetu takes advantage of some sloppy striking from Hughes to pass into mount.

Eetu doesn't have the hooks in and Hughes manages to turn into his guard.

Eetu has momentary wrist control but Hughes slips an elbow through the middle.

Hughes drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Eetu manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hughes has Eetu in his guard.
Eetu must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Hughes is breathing heavily.

Eetu is nestled in close to Hughes, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Hughes is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Hughes is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Eetu's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Eetu's back!

Eetu covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
Hughes lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Hughes.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Eetu manages to reverse the position and now he's in Hughes's guard. Nice work there by Eetu.

Hughes wants to sweep here but Eetu controlling him for the moment.

Eetu drops back looking for a leg! Hughes is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hughes manages to kick Eetu off! Eetu jumps back into Hughes's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hughes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Eetu is in trouble now - Hughes has advanced to mount!
Hughes scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Hughes is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Eetu is surviving well by controlling Hughes's body position as best he can.
Eetu is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Hughes is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Eetu defends it well.

Hughes is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hughes is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Eetu is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Hughes tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hughes has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's time! Hughes's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Eetu fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Hughes shoots in and drives through. Eetu sprawls well.

Hughes gets caught flat footed, as Eetu shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Hughes working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Eetu doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Eetu manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Eetu is looking to work some ground and pound but Hughes has wrist control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hughes had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Eetu is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Hughes Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Eetu's back instead.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hughes throws a right and a left that both miss.
