The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maynard wants to clinch up but McGhee keeps it at a distance.
Gray Maynard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Maynard drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
McGhee sneaks back into half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McGhee can do anything to dispel that myth.
McGhee tries to roll over but Maynard keeps him under control.

McGhee is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Maynard closes the distance looking for a takedown. McGhee stuffs it but Maynard still has hold of him. Maynard picks McGhee up in a fireman's lift! The crowd roars in approval. Maynard slams McGhee to the floor and that's really hurt McGhee - he doesn't know where he is! Maynard throws a couple of strikes and the referee steps in to save him! This one is in the books!
