PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Opa Jaeh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathan Edwards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nathan Edwards told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Opa Jaeh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nathan Edwards!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Damien Edna and Winston Howard.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Edwards throws a shot from downtown. Jaeh moves away and avoids it.
Edwards misses with a jab, cross combination.
Edwards thows a leg kick but Jaeh checks it
and Edwards takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Edwards shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Jaeh actively working from the bottom here.

Jaeh looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Edwards throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Jaeh looking for submissions off his back.

Edwards decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Edwards drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Edwards trying to control the position from guard on top but Jaeh is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jaeh escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Edwards gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Edwards throwing strikes but missing.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jaeh is on top in guard.
Jaeh wants to pass the guard but Edwards is keeping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jaeh has gone for a leg lock! Edwards slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jaeh's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jaeh has a closed guard, preventing Edwards from standing up.
Edwards really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jaeh. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jaeh looking to hit a scissor sweep but Edwards is one step ahead there.

Jaeh is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Jaeh is breathing heavily.

Jaeh had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Edwards defends it easily.
Edwards postures up in Jaeh's guard and throws a big left but Jaeh blocks it.
Edwards throwing strikes from guard but Jaeh blocks nicely.

Jaeh working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Edwards doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Jaeh is tightening it up a little... Edwards has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Edwards reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Edwards taps out! nice BJJ there by Jaeh!
