PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ogmundur Girsurrson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Krabby Kingler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ogmundur Girsurrson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Krabby Kingler!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Seu Braga and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kingler throws a lazy body kick

and Girsurrson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Girsurrson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kingler swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kingler working a defensive guard here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Girsurrson's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Girsurrson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Ogmundur Girsurrson just wasn't active enough.
Kingler thows a body kick. Girsurrson tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Girsurrson throws a looping overhand right but Kingler ducks down to avoid it.
Kingler dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Girsurrson. That did some damage!
Krabby Kingler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kingler throws a leg kick but Girsurrson moved away.
Girsurrson looks to score with a jab to the body but Kingler is just out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kingler throws a sloppy head kick and Girsurrson moves out of range easily.
Girsurrson swings widly with a right hand
and Kingler counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Girsurrson is lucky that one didn't land flush.
A low kick from Kingler is predictable there
and Girsurrson counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Girsurrson throws a hook but Kingler blocks it.
Girsurrson throws a hook but Kingler blocks it.
Girsurrson pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Kingler throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Girsurrson counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Kingler looks gassed!
Kingler tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kingler enables Girsurrson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kingler manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Girsurrson content to stall in guard here.
Girsurrson passes Kingler's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Girsurrson in particular looking to stall.

Girsurrson works his way into side control.
Kingler looking for a sweep but Girsurrson has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Girsurrson throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Kingler because Girsurrson loaded up on that one.
Girsurrson content just to control the position here.
Girsurrson throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Girsurrson sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Kingler really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Girsurrson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kingler has given up his back. Will we see Girsurrson going for some submissions?
I would not like to be Kingler right now.
Kingler has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Girsurrson.
Girsurrson keeps control of the position easily here as Kingler tries to buck him off.

Girsurrson is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Kingler taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Girsurrson.
