The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson shoots in for a takedown but Simpson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Simpson scores with a hook to the body. Nelson takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Nelson dives in and scores a takedown into Simpson's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Simpson controls Nelson momentarily but Nelson frees himself.

Nelson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Nelson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Nelson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Simpson!

Nelson takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.

Simpson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nelson on the ground.
I really don't envy Simpson right now.
