Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aleksei Alenichev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gangmo Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alenichev's entrance music is "Acid Rain" by Liquid Tension Experiment. A fine choice. Gangmo Lee has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Aleksei Alenichev's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Alenichev decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lee's guard.

Lee escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Alenichev gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Alenichev stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lee swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Lee escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Alenichev gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Alenichev wants to control from the top but Lee keeps moving.
Alenichev won't allow Lee to sweep him here.
Alenichev stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lee swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Alenichev slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Alenichev will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Lee counters with a nice double leg into side control. Alenichev won't be happy with that.

Lee thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Lee swings around for an armbar but Alenichev sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Lee's guard.

Alenichev is nestled in close to Lee, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Alenichev lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

That was a close round but I would say that Aleksei Alenichev will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Lee drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Alenichev manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Lee has Alenichev in his guard.

Alenichev is posturing up here but Lee has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Alenichev tries to roll out but it's too tight and Alenichev has to tap! Slick submission there by Lee!
