PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bob Weave (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeremy Durden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jeremy Durden told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bob Weave!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jeremy Durden!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weave scores with a jab to the body.
Weave is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Durden.
Durden moves out of range as Weave strikes.
Durden tries to clinch
and Weave counters with a lovely shot to the body.

and Weave counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Durden closes the distance and pushes Weave back into the ropes.
A frustrated look appears on Weave's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Weave wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Durden has him pressed against the ropes.
Weave is pressed up against the ropes. Durden has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Weave down to the mat. Weave avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Weave misses with an uppercut. Durden saw that one coming.
A solid leg kick lands there for Durden.
Weave rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Durden moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Durden closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Weave did well to prevent Durden getting side control.

Durden working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Weave knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Durden on the ground.

Durden looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Weave with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Durden postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Weave looks a forlorn figure.

Weave is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Durden cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Durden fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Durden is working for a guillotine from mount but Weave frees his head quite easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Weave trying desperately to get to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jeremy Durden dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Weave wants to get back to striking at distance but Durden won't allow it.

Durden has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Weave uses from the top position.
Weave wants to stand and escape but instead Durden has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Durden sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Weave's guard.

Durden winds up and cracks Weave with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Durden works his foot free and advances to mount.

Weave is bucking up trying to escape but Durden cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Durden won't let Weave get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Weave trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Durden is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Durden lands a big shot there that rocks Weave but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Durden postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Weave looks a forlorn figure.

Durden working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Weave turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Durden off and cradles Weave's limp body as Durden celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Jeremy Durden!
