Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vik Mizera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Mateando (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vik Mizera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Antonio Mateando!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Luis Engracia and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mizera throws a jab but it's blocked by Mateando.
Mateando misses with a takedown attempt

and Mizera counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Mizera stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mateando swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mizera stands and steps away. Mateando gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Mateando shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mateando showed some decent athleticism there.
Mateando wants to free his trapped foot but Mizera is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Mateando is trying to control. Mizera wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Mizera makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

and Mateando counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mizera won't be happy with that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A close round but Antonio Mateando will probably get the nod.

Mizera decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

and Mizera counters by moving into the clinch.

Mateando ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mateando no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mateando is on top in guard.

The fighters are battling for position here. Mizera manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Mizera lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Mateando!

Mizera is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Mateando to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Mateando shrugs it off.

Mizera takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Mizera feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Mateando wants to sweep here but Mizera controlling him for the moment.
Mateando is controlling Mizera's posture.
Mizera is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Mizera decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Mizera bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Mizera content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Mizera wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mateando, who protects the arm well.

Mizera wants to sweep here but Mateando controlling him for the moment.

Mateando drops back looking for a leg! Mizera is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mizera manages to kick Mateando off! Mateando jumps back into Mizera's guard.
Vik Mizera overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Mizera keeping moving, preventing Mateando from controlling successfully.

Well Mizera has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
