PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Renato Cardoso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charlie Venom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cardoso comes to the cage accompanied by Samba de Janeiro. Venom has chosen Orbital Smasher as his entrance music. Renato Cardoso has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Renato Cardoso!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Charlie Venom!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cardoso misses with a few strikes there.
Venom wants to clinch but Cardoso slips to the side

and Cardoso counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Venom is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Venom is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Venom looking for a sweep. Not yet Venom, not yet.
Cardoso trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Venom really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cardoso. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Venom is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Venom pushes Cardoso off and scrambles back to his feet.
Venom tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Cardoso counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Venom wants to control but Cardoso is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Venom looks gassed!

Cardoso is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Venom is just riding it out for now. Cardoso eventually gives up the hold.
Cardoso tries to pass the half guard into mount. Venom knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Cardoso moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Venom.

Venom defending against the ground and pound.
Sloppy strikes there by Cardoso.
Venom is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Cardoso is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Venom tries to reverse the position but Cardoso maintains control.
Cardoso moves to back control.

Cardoso is cranking Venom's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Venom! He's tightened the choke and Venom is tapping out!
