Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Allistair Nyky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Hawke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawke with a poor takedown

so Nyky counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Nyky trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Hawke is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Nyky trying to control but Hawke is working from the bottom.
Nyky trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Nyky wants to control from the top but Hawke keeps moving.

Hawke escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nyky gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nyky trying to control the position from guard on top but Hawke is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Nyky wants to pass the guard but Hawke is keeping the position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Hawke is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Nyky controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Allistair Nyky just wasn't active enough.

Nyky would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Hawke working for submissions but it's allowed Nyky to get to half guard.
Nyky wants to take a breather but Hawke is having none of it.

Nyky knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hawke on the ground.
Nyky is keen to just control but Hawke is a slippery customer.

Hawke keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Nyky's head.

Hawke drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hawke jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hawke has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Nyky is proving hard to escape from.
Hawke passes Nyky's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Nyky tries to roll over but Hawke keeps him under control.

Nyky tries to kick Hawke off but Hawke keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Nyky is breathing heavily.
Nyky is trying to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Allistair Nyky will probably get the nod.
That's time! Nyky's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Nyky shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hawke manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Hawke is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Nyky wants to control from the top but Hawke keeps moving.
Hawke lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Nyky!

Hawke throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Nyky has his hands clasped together but Hawke breaks the hold and Nyky is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Hawke!
