Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Donnie Yam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hiruzen Sarutobi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Donnie Yam has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Donnie Yam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hiruzen Sarutobi!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Paulsen Ambrosius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yam waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Sarutobi.
Sarutobi looks to land a combination. Yam sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Yam lands with a nice body punch.
Sarutobi uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Yam.
Yam missing with a left hand there. Sarutobi was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Nice straight punches there by Yam. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Yam.
Yam tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sarutobi was well out of range. Poor timing from Yam.
Yam takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Sarutobi moves into range and clinches up with Yam.

Sarutobi manages to break the clinch.
A jab from Yam does it's job there.
Yam falls off balance throwing a combination

and Sarutobi counters by moving into the clinch.
Still in the clinch, Sarutobi scores with a nice short uppercut.

Sarutobi manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Yam gets to his feet - Sarutobi follows without any prompting.
Yam throws a right hand that misses
and Sarutobi counters with a stiff right hand.

Sarutobi gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Yam wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Yam wants to break free but Sarutobi has control.
Yam has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Yam takes a shot to the head.
Sarutobi lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Yam.
Sarutobi lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Yam is breathing heavily.
Sarutobi leaning his opponent against the cage.
Nice body punch from Sarutobi - that landed with a thud.
Sarutobi lands a nice shot to the body.
A frustrated look appears on Yam's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Sarutobi jumps into guard, dragging Yam to the mat.

We're going to have a standup here because Donnie Yam wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Sarutobi bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Yam prevents Sarutobi from moving into mount.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Sarutobi prevents Yam from escaping the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Yam trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sarutobi is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Yam's shoulder. That is not cool.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Sarutobi's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Hiruzen Sarutobi hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Sarutobi scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Sarutobi is staying tight to Yam's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Yam is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Sarutobi is controlling him well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Yam is looking to get back to his feet here but Sarutobi is keeping cool and he's managed to take Yam's back.
Yam is trying to stand back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hiruzen Sarutobi dominated that round.
That's time! Yam's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Yam misses the jab.
Sarutobi tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Yam paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Sarutobi rushes Yam and presses him up against the cage.

Sarutobi jumps guard.
Sarutobi has a closed guard, preventing Yam from standing up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Donnie Yam.
Yam fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Yam lands a head shot.

Sarutobi shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Yam getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Sarutobi lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.


It looks like Donnie Yam has been cut.
Sarutobi connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Yam momentarily.
Sarutobi avoids a kick to the body.
Sarutobi throws a head kick but Yam moves out of range.
Yam throws a right hand that misses
and Sarutobi counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Sarutobi lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Yam is looking to break free of the clinch but Sarutobi has double underhooks.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Yam is looking to break free of the clinch but Sarutobi has double underhooks.

Sarutobi is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Yam looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Yam is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Sarutobi is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Sarutobi breaks from the clinch.

Sarutobi fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Yam sprawls well initially but Sarutobi persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sarutobi in particular looking to stall.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Yam tries to kick Sarutobi off but Sarutobi keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Hiruzen Sarutobi was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Sarutobi fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Yam, pushing him back against the cage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Sarutobi gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Yam regains guard.
Yam is looking to stand up but Sarutobi isn't so interested in that idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hiruzen Sarutobi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Donnie Yam's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Sarutobi clinches up with Yam and pushes him back against the cage.
Sarutobi stalls.
Sarutobi tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Yam smiles and moves away.

Sarutobi ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Sarutobi no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sarutobi wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Sarutobi will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Yam up against the cage.

Sarutobi swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A slow jab from Yam misses its intended target.
Yam lands with a nice combination. Sarutobi backs away looking to recover.

Yam gets tackled into the cage by Sarutobi. Sarutobi maintains the clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Yam is trying to push Sarutobi away but Sarutobi has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Yam is trying to break free.

Sarutobi pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A low kick from Sarutobi is predictable there
enabling Yam to counter with a crisp jab.
Yam throws a right hand that misses

and Sarutobi counters with a shoot takedown. Yam fights it but they end up in guard.

Yam pushes Sarutobi off and scrambles back to his feet.
Sarutobi shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Sarutobi takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Yam scores with a jab to the jaw.

Yam thows a body shot but no joy.
Donnie Yam seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Yam rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Sarutobi counters with a lovely shot to the body.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sarutobi gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Donnie Yam has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well Sarutobi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
