Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Macklin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xander Last (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, David Macklin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Xander Last!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Bruno Hogan and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Macklin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Last misses with a straight right.

Macklin clinches.

Macklin drags the fight down to the ground.
Last looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Last working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Last with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Macklin keeping moving, preventing Last from controlling successfully.
Last prevents Macklin from getting back to his feet.

Last passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Last is staying tight to Macklin's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Last decides to stand back up.

Last clinches up with Macklin and pushes him back against the cage.
Last wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Last wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Macklin has him pressed against the cage.
Last wants to break free but Macklin has control.
Last avoiding damage.

Macklin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Last closes the distance and clinches.
Last tries for a takedown but Macklin manages to get underhooks.
Last tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Macklin smiles and moves away.
Macklin looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Macklin tries to clinch but Last is having none of it.
Macklin pulls out of a head kick attempt.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Macklin has had enough of the clinch but Last keeps him there for the moment.
Last keeps control of Macklin as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Macklin is breathing heavily.
Last tries to stall but Macklin uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Macklin slows down the pace here.

Last pulls Macklin into guard.

Last is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Last bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Macklin's guard.
Last stopping the sweep attempt from Macklin.
Macklin looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Last puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Last perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Macklin has hold of Last's hands but Last slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Last is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Last decides to return to a standing position.

Last tries to clinch up but Macklin circles away and keeps his distance.
David Macklin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Macklin scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

Macklin closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Last letting Macklin take a breather here.
Last has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Macklin is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Last misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Macklin moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Last pushes down on Macklin's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Macklin keeps Last under control for a moment.
Macklin manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Last seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Macklin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Macklin gets back to full guard.
Last thows a big elbow that misses.
Macklin wants to stand and escape but Last is having none of it.
Last slips nicely into half guard.

Macklin works his way to full guard. Good work.
Macklin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Last gets full guard.

Last looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Macklin won't allow Last to sweep him here.

Last wants to sweep but no luck.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Last is on top in guard.
Macklin is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Last dives into side control.

Last stands up and beckons Macklin to his feet.

so Last counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Macklin wants to sweep here but Last controlling him for the moment.
Last trying to control the position from guard on top but Macklin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Last seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Xander Last showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Macklin is looking to clinch but Last is avoiding it.

Last has closed the distance and engaged Macklin in a clinch.
Last tries to pull guard but Macklin holds him up against the cage and eventually Last drops back down to his feet.

Macklin is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Last throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Macklin escapes and throws Last's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Last manages to work his way to half guard, despite Macklin's best efforts.
Macklin is taking a breather. Last says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Macklin is looking to advance position but Last won't allow it.
Macklin prevents Last from improving his position.
Last has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Macklin is working away from the top position though.

Last tries to get to full guard but Macklin has control of the leg.
Macklin throws a strike but Last avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Macklin controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Macklin tries to stand but Last is controlling from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Last seems to be working for a kimura but Macklin defends the submission attempt.
Macklin wants to control but Last is keeping busy.

Last stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Last misses with a leg kick
and Macklin counters with a three punch combo that has Last backing up. Last nods at Macklin to acknowledge the strikes.
No luck for Last with that takedown attempt.
David Macklin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Xander Last.
Last fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Macklin.
David Macklin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Macklin ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Last moves away.
Last misses with a kick to the body.
Last wants to clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Last.

Macklin gets caught flat footed, as Last shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Xander Last comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Last winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
