Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Donatello Bradman and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Batista throws a head kick that misses.
Batista gets tackled into the cage by Stanton. Stanton maintains the clinch.
Stanton has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Batista is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Batista trying to stall but Stanton improves his position.
Stanton drags the fight down to the ground.
Stanton looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Batista won't allow Stanton to sweep him here.
Batista wants to control from the top but Stanton keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Mario Batista just wasn't active enough.

and Stanton counters with a single leg into guard. Batista didn't expect that.
Stanton wants to control from the top but Batista keeps moving.
Batista pulls Stanton in close to prevent any damage.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stanton accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Stanton is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Stanton thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Brent Stanton hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Stanton throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Batista was covering up waiting for the punch and Stanton finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Stanton seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

That's time! Batista's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Stanton changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Batista looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Batista takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
