The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hughes gets the takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Bruno wants to control but Hughes postures up.
Hughes should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Hughes looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Bruno can't do much from the bottom here.
Bruno is looking to regain half guard here but Hughes keeps moving and retains side control.
Hughes scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Bruno to see if he's OK.
Bruno tries to improve position but can't.
Bruno dodges the ground and pound from Hughes.
Hughes tries to score with some ground and pound. Bruno controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Hughes tries for a kimura but Bruno is defending well.

Hughes creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Hughes looking to control but Bruno is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Hughes throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Hughes has eaten all the pies!

Hughes looking to secure an arm triangle but Bruno defends it well.
Bruno is trying desperately to improve position.

Hughes throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Bruno because Hughes loaded up on that one.
Hughes throws some wild stikes that Bruno manages to avoid easily.
Bruno tries to lock up and control but Hughes gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
You get the feeling that Bruno really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Bruno is breathing heavily.

Hughes with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Bruno is desperately trying to improve his position but Hughes has a good base and remains in mount.
Hughes looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Bruno wants to control but Hughes is having none of it.

Hughes is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Bruno is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Bruno flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Hughes anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Bruno and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Hughes slips an arm under Bruno chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Hughes has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Hughes is squeezing on Bruno like an anaconda would it's prey. Bruno fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
