PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sasha Gudny (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gudny drives through and clinches with Mir against the cage.
Mir is working for takedown but Gudny is calmly controlling the position for now.
Mir wants a takedown but no success here.

Mir is fighting off a takedown attempt but Gudny is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Mir to the mat. Mir regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Gudny trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gudny stands up and waves to Mir to follow him.
Mir misses with a takedown

and Gudny counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Mir's guard now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Mir. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gudny wants to pass the guard but Mir is keeping the position.

Gudny sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Mir doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Gudny paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Mir - great work!
