PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Luc Morris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Laruso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Laruso 's choice of entrance music: Act a Fool--Flosstradamus. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Luc Morris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Daniel Laruso !
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laruso wants to slow Morris down by chopping away at his legs.
Laruso fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Morris swings away with a body shot that misses
and Laruso counters with a body kick that stops Morris in his tracks momentarily.
Morris lands a jab to Laruso 's midsection.
Morris is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Laruso .
Luc Morris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Morris misses with a body punch
and Laruso counters with a nice leg kick.
Morris throws a right and a left that Laruso avoids nicely.
An inside leg kick lands from Laruso .
Laruso shoots in looking for a takedown but Morris manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Laruso 's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Laruso feints and then cracks Morris's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Morris down.
Morris is breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Morris misses with a hook to the body
and Laruso counters with a low kick, right behind Morris 's knee.

Laruso closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Morris did well to prevent Laruso getting side control.

Morris is in trouble now - Laruso has advanced to mount!
Laruso tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Morris looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Morris trying to get back to his feet but Laruso is in full control for now.

Laruso trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Morris doesn't escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Let's hope that Laruso has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Daniel Laruso wasn't active enough on the ground.
Morris works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Morris just misses with a punch to the body.
Morris thows a body shot but no joy.
Morris is looking to wear down Laruso with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Laruso closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Morris did well to prevent Laruso getting side control.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Laruso 's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Laruso seems to be working for a kimura but Morris defends the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Laruso closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Morris's guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Morris can't keep his opponent in guard - Laruso advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Laruso can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Morris is looking to escape.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Daniel Laruso hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Morris falls off balance throwing a combination

and Laruso counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Laruso .
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Laruso . He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Laruso pushing down on Morris's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Laruso moves into full mount! Morris won't be happy about that!
Morris is controlling an arm, preventing Laruso from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Morris tries to control Laruso 's body but Laruso pushes him off. Morris squirms to his side and now Laruso has his back!
Morris tries to escape but Laruso has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Laruso is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel Laruso showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Morris fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Laruso manages to avoid it.
Morris looks to score with a jab to the body but Laruso is just out of range.

Laruso throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Morris tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Laruso is in Morris's guard.
Laruso not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Laruso trying to control the position from guard on top but Morris is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Laruso sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Morris's guard.

Morris is not content to let Laruso control the position.
Morris is trying to control but Laruso manages to pass to mount!
Laruso content just to control the position here.

Laruso working for a submission but Morris is keeping him at bay.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Morris is desperately trying to improve his position but Laruso has a good base and remains in mount.
Laruso controlling the pace for now.
Morris really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Laruso tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Morris is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Laruso has taken his back!

Well Laruso has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
