PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Viktor Medved (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Angel Pain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pain has chosen "Meet the Monster" Five Finger Death Punch as his entrance music. Angel Pain struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 156.4lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 21 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Angel Pain!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Sergei Dronov and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pain tries to clinch up
and Medved connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.


It looks like Angel Pain has been cut.

Pain shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Medved is trying to defend but Pain finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Medved on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Medved tries to get out of the position.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Pain wants to control from the top but Medved keeps moving.

Pain stands up over Medved, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Pain is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Pain stands and steps away. Medved gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Pain crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Medved - the referee stops the clock and Pain gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Medved. Pain manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Pain has picked Medved up - he's going for a ride! Pain dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Pain misses with a takedown attempt - Medved sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

The fight stays on the outside here - Pain looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Pain shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Medved sprawls well. Medved wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pain gets slowly back to his feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Medved swats away the attempt to clinch by Pain.
Medved avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Pain shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Medved but Medved pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Pain dives in and grabs Medved's left leg, looking for a takedown. Medved pushes down on Pain's head and hops out.

Angel Pain showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Medved tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pain was well out of range. Poor timing from Medved.

Pain has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Pain changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Medved tries to avoid it but Pain manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Medved to the ground. Medved escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Pain shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Medved as he avoids it easily.

and Medved holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
