PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Manny Viera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nikola Kechman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Viera's entrance music is Cypress Hill - Trouble. A fine choice. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Manny Viera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nikola Kechman!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Viera with a poor takedown
and Kechman counters with a straight right hand.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kechman. Viera does a little dance to reset his feet.
Manny Viera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Viera feints and as Kechman raises his hands in defense, Viera changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kechman manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Kechman trying to control but Viera is having none of it.
Viera really wants to buck Kechman off and get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kechman tries to control but Viera wriggling away.
Kechman sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Kechman can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Viera is looking to escape.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Nikola Kechman.
Viera moves out of range as Kechman strikes.
Kechman tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Viera uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kechman.
Viera tries for a takedown but Kechman circles away easily
and Kechman counters with a slapping leg kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A nice leg kick lands there from Kechman.
Viera is breathing heavily.
Kechman misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kechman throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Kechman misses with a looping right.
Viera fails with the takedown
and Kechman counters with a good low kick that Viera was not able to check.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Manny Viera. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kechman tries to bum rush Viera with a series of wild strikes but Viera uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kechman lands a nice looking kick to the body. Viera takes a step back to recover.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Kechman drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Kechman would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Nikola Kechman hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Kechman throws a predictable looking body shot

so Viera counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Viera throwing strikes but missing.
Kechman looking for a sweep. Not yet Kechman, not yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nikola Kechman dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Kechman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kechman, as that shot connected.

Viera gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Kechman counters with a left to the body.

Kechman rushes Viera and presses him up against the cage.
Kechman with a knee to the head.
Kechman connects with a nasty looking knee right to Viera's face.
Kechman lands an elbow that stopped Viera in his tracks for a moment.

Kechman manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Kechman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Viera. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kechman is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Viera throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kechman works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kechman wants to sweep but no luck.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Viera accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Kechman looking to hit a scissor sweep but Viera is one step ahead there.
Viera cracks Kechman with a solid left hand.
Kechman is adopting a defensive guard.
Kechman wants to sweep but no luck.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Viera throws a strike but Kechman rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Kechman would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Manny Viera has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Viera fails with the takedown
and Kechman counters with a low kick, right behind Viera 's knee.
Kechman pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Viera misses with a takedown attempt
and Kechman counters with a nice leg kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Manny Viera. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kechman tries to clinch there but Viera circles away.
Kechman scores with a jab to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kechman. Viera does a little dance to reset his feet.

Kechman lands a big head kick that sends Viera tumbling to the mat! Kechman takes a step backwards and waves Viera back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Manny Viera has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kechman plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!


Viera is rocked!

Viera drops his hands momentarily. Kechman doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Viera staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Viera doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:08 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Nikola Kechman!
