PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tank Thunderclap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bjorn Ironside (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Thunderclap might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to ThunderStruck. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 1, fighting out of New York, Tank Thunderclap!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bjorn Ironside!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Reed Andrews and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ironside looks to land a combination. Thunderclap sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.


It looks like Tank Thunderclap has been cut.
Thunderclap staying out of range there.
Ironside scores with a hook.

Ironside feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ironside stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Thunderclap swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Ironside takes a swing at Thunderclap's ribcage but misses.
Thunderclap tries to clinch up.
Thunderclap uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ironside.
Ironside catches Thunderclap with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Ironside keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Ironside regains full guard. Nicely done.

Ironside is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Thunderclap is aware though and is defending well.

Thunderclap drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Thunderclap jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Thunderclap is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Thunderclap has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Ironside takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Thunderclap wants to improve his position but Ironside is controlling well.
Ironside is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Thunderclap wants to get back to full guard.
Thunderclap is trying to stand back up but Ironside is controlling him

Thunderclap tries to get to full guard but Ironside has control of the leg.
Ironside trying to mount his opponent but Thunderclap defends it.
Thunderclap is looking for a sweep. Ironside is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Ironside throwing shots but Thunderclap is blocking nicely.
Thunderclap regains full guard. Nicely done.
Ironside with a flurry of punches that miss.
Thunderclap wants to sweep here but Ironside controlling him for the moment.
Ironside works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Ironside thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Thunderclap's head.
Thunderclap has hold of Ironside's hands but Ironside slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Ironside perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Ironside prevents Thunderclap from improving his position.
Thunderclap is staying active underneath Ironside, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Thunderclap wants to get back to his feet.
Thunderclap keeping hold of Ironside's head, controlling as best he can.
Ironside is trying to control the action in half guard but Thunderclap is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Bjorn Ironside hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Thunderclap scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Ironside gets back to half guard.
Ironside gets back to full guard.
Ironside is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Ironside manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Thunderclap wants to try and get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bjorn Ironside dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Tank Thunderclap's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Ironside tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Thunderclap was well out of range. Poor timing from Ironside.

Thunderclap is looking for a kimura but Ironside is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Thunderclap to get the leverage.
Thunderclap keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Ironside is looking to control Thunderclap's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ironside avoid being mounted?
Ironside is looking for a sweep. Thunderclap is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Tank Thunderclap overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Thunderclap winds up and cracks Ironside with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Ironside gets full guard.
Thunderclap wants to control from the top but Ironside keeps moving.
Ironside manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Ironside raining down shots from the mount!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Ironside cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!


Tank Thunderclap's cut is getting worse.
Ironside connects with a couple of good shots from mount.


Jeez, Tank Thunderclap's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Tank Thunderclap's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Bjorn Ironside!
