PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brahma Bull (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz has chosen Been to Hell as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Brahma Bull had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 172.7lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Brahma Bull looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bull misses with a takedown

and Diaz counters with a crisp one two that drops Bull! Diaz thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Bull to his feet! Bull is in big trouble!

Diaz throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bull was covering up waiting for the punch and Diaz finishes the takedown easily into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Diaz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bull swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Diaz drops an elbow to the side of Bull's head.
Bull knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Diaz on the ground.

Diaz decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Diaz lands with a hook. Bull tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

It looks like Brahma Bull has been cut.
No joy there for Diaz, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

and Diaz counters with a good low kick that Bull was not able to check.

Diaz lands a left and a right that send Bull crashing to the mat, dazed. Diaz thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Bull is rocked!

This has been an exciting period of action!

Diaz rushes Bull and presses him up against the cage.
Oh Bull is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Diaz gets through Bull's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Bull seems to have got his legs back now.
Diaz lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Bull.

Diaz jumps guard and drags Bull to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Bull sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Diaz scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Sloppy strikes from Diaz. Those never looked like landing.
Diaz shoots in looking for a takedown. Bull tries to sprawl out of it but Diaz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bull manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Bull shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Diaz throws a head kick that misses.
Bull shoots in for a takedown but Diaz shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Diaz moves into range and clinches up with Bull.

Bull jumps guard but Diaz stands there with Bull around his waist. Bull gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bull accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Diaz scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Bull doesn't seem bothered though.
Nick Diaz seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Bull has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Diaz celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
