Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Thiago Santos!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paulsen Ambrosius and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cote throws a hook but Santos blocks it.
Cote throws a body punch but Santos moves out of range.
Cote misses with a few strikes there.
Santos dodges the punch combination from Cote.

Santos shoots in for a double leg but Cote sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Santos slips a jab and a cross from Cote.

Cote clinches up against the ropes.
Cote has a couple of punches blocked by Santos.

Cote lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Cote blocks the elbow strike.

Santos has clasped his hands together around Cote's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Santos stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Santos uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Cote.

Santos moves into the clinch successfully.
Cote lands a nice uppercut.

Cote lands with a left to the head.
Cote will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Santos up against the ropes.

The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Cote lands a left hand.

Cote gets through Santos's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Santos lands a takedown into guard.
Santos tries to stand but Cote is controlling from the bottom.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Santos got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cote has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Santos has managed to get both his arms back between Cote's legs - danger averted.

Cote had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Santos defends it easily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Santos has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Cote is proving hard to escape from.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Santos gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Santos uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Cote.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cote stuffs the takedown attempt from Santos. Santos gets slowly back to his feet.
Cote throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Santos.
Nice uppercut there from Cote.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.

Santos goes for a takedown attempt but Cote pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Santos has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Cote finds it's way round the side to connect with Santos's head.

Cote closes the distance and pushes Santos back into the ropes.

Santos's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Santos is breathing heavily.
Cote tries to stall but Santos uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Cote is pushing Santos up against the ropes, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Patrick Cote.
Cote connects with the punch.
Cote is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Cote cracks Santos's jaw with two stiff jabs then ducks low and throws a soul-severing right uppercut to the mouth!! Santos slumps to the ground with blood on his lips. The referee steps in before Cote can do further damage! This one is done, son!
