Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Damian Grabowski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sten Sacunda!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Winston Howard and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick by Grabowski misses
and Sacunda counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Grabowski clobbers Sacunda with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Sacunda wants to clinch but Grabowski slips to the side
and Grabowski counters with a left and a right that stings Sacunda.
Sacunda shoots in looking for a takedown. Grabowski tries to sprawl out of it but Sacunda keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Grabowski manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Sacunda takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Sacunda moves to clinch but Grabowski breaks away
and Sacunda takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Sacunda shoots for a double leg takedown but Grabowski sprawls well. He's pushed Sacunda's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Grabowski moves into the clinch successfully.
Grabowski lands an uppercut.
Grabowski with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Sacunda pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sacunda tries for a takedown but Grabowski circles away easily
and Grabowski counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Damian Grabowski has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sten Sacunda.
Sacunda looks gassed!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sacunda shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Grabowski counters with a stiff right hand.
Grabowski clinches.
Grabowski is trying to break the clinch but Sacunda is controlling him.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Grabowski pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sacunda looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Grabowski has taken the fight to the clinch.
Grabowski is trying to break free.
Sacunda fails to pull guard.
Grabowski breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Grabowski lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Sacunda takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Grabowski feints with a jab and clips Sacunda right behind the ear with a massive overhand right! Sacunda is sent crashing into the canvas and Grabowski leaps in for the kill! Sacunda tries to get to his feet but Grabowski is just battering him from every conceivable angle. The ref decides that Sacunda is in need of a savior and steps in!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Damian Grabowski!
