Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bruiser Stone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Will Franks!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Skip Squint and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stone throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Franks.
Franks moves to clinch but Stone breaks away
and Stone counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Franks closes the distance but Stone moves to the side

and Stone counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Stone sitting and controlling from the half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Franks is trying to stand up here but Stone is controlling him well.

Franks is defending against the submission attempts here by Stone.
Stone is taking a breather. Franks says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Franks pushes Stone off looking to stand but Stone dives back in and keeps control.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Bruiser Stone wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Franks closes the distance but Stone moves to the side

and Stone counters with a series of strikes that sends Franks to the canvas! Stone follows down into guard, looking to finish the fight!

Stone thows a big elbow that misses.
Franks seems to have recovered his senses.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Franks can do anything to dispel that myth.

Franks wants to stand but Stone is controlling the position.
Franks is looking to stand back up but Stone counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Franks.

Stone is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Franks has managed to free his arm - good work.

We're going to have a standup here because Bruiser Stone wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Franks wants to clinch but Stone slips to the side
and Stone counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Stone shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Franks pinned against the cage. Franks gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Stone throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Stone.
The ground and pound from Stone seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Franks tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

Franks is trying to shake Stone off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! Stone won't be happy about giving up the dominant position.
Nice takedown defense from Franks. No joy for Stone on that attempt.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Franks wants to clinch but Stone slips to the side
and Stone counters with a series of strikes. Franks will be more careful next time no doubt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Franks can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Stone controls the pace.

Stone thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


A punch combination from Franks misses.
Franks fails in his attempt to clinch.
Franks smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Stone dives in and grabs Franks's left leg, looking for a takedown. Franks pushes down on Stone's head and hops out.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Stone is defended easily by Franks.

Franks clinches.

Stone manages to break the clinch.
Franks stuffs the takedown attempt from Stone. Stone gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruiser Stone. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A right-left combo lands from Franks.
Bruiser Stone is winning the standup battle so far.
Franks thuds a left hand into Stone's body.
Franks tries to close the distance and clinch but Stone swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Franks lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Bruiser Stone is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

No joy there for Stone, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Will Franks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Franks tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Stone is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Franks.

Stone is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Franks defends it well.

Stone is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Stone won't let Franks get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Franks is bucking up trying to escape but Stone cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

That was a close second round but I would say that Bruiser Stone will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Franks wants to clinch but Stone slips to the side

and Stone counters with a takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stone wants to control but Franks is keeping him busy.
Franks wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Stone is trying to get an arm triangle but Franks is defending well.
Franks tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

Stone is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Franks can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The referee warns Franks that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

You get the feeling that Franks really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Franks takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Stone pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Stone unloads with some shots from mount but Franks bucks and avoids them well.

Bruiser Stone overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Stone's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Stone seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Franks for as long as he can get away with.

Stone has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Bruiser Stone is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Stone, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
