PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Akash Janak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Viktor Zangiev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Janak comes to the cage accompanied by Imagine - John Lennon. Zangiev has chosen Zangief Theme as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Akash Janak has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Akash Janak seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Igor Prikhodko and Konstantin Menshow.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Zangiev misses.
Zangiev misses the shot to the body.
Janak looks to score with a jab to the body but Zangiev is just out of range.
Zangiev shoots in looking for a takedown. Janak tries to sprawl out of it but Zangiev keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Janak manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A jab lands there for Zangiev.

Zangiev decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Janak preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Zangiev seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Janak does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Zangiev is looking to advance position but Janak won't allow it.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Viktor Zangiev has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Zangiev tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Janak was well out of range. Poor timing from Zangiev.
That kick from Janak tenderised Zangiev's leg. Zangiev is trying to keep his angry face on.
Janak's corner calls for a 1-2. Janak obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

It looks like Viktor Zangiev has been cut.
Zangiev misses with a takedown attempt
and Janak counters with a left to the body.
Zangiev looks gassed!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Janak lands a left and a right that send Zangiev crashing to the mat, dazed. Janak thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Zangiev is pressed against the cage. Janak pushes back and unleashes a big elbow that really hurts Zangiev! Two more big strikes from Janak and Zangiev crumples to the mat and taps out furiously due to the strikes!
