Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Suren Kalik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mirco Cro!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Igor Prikhodko and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cro misses with a head kick.
Cro gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Kalik connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Cro wants to clinch
and Kalik counters with a straight right hand.
Cro misses with a body kick.
Cro tries for a takedown but Kalik circles away easily
and Kalik cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Cro throws a head kick that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cro pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kalik feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Kalik drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kalik jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Kalik is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Kalik is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Cro is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Cro has escaped and now he's on top!
Kalik is breathing heavily.
Cro is stalling in the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cro tries to stand but Kalik is controlling from the bottom.
Cro drops back looking for a leg! Kalik is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kalik manages to kick Cro off! Cro jumps back into Kalik's guard.
Cro has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Kalik to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Cro is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Kalik pulls down on the head and he's put Cro to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Suren Kalik!
