Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Robert Matos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Robert Matos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Scott Silva!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Mauricio Rocha and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Matos. Those never looked like landing.

Matos clinches with his opponent.

Matos on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Silva fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Matos, pushing him back against the cage.

Matos manages to break the clinch.

Matos throws a series of punches but Silva moves out of range.

Silva closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Silva goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Matos has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Silva but great work by Matos.

Matos decides to stand up, so the ref orders Silva to his feet.
Silva throws a right and a left that Matos avoids nicely.
Matos moves in looking to clinch but Silva pushes him off.
Matos tries to close the distance and clinch up but Silva swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Silva looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Matos!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Silva goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Matos turns into him and now he's in Silva's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Matos breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Matos tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Silva manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Matos will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Robert Matos.
I think Silva has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
