PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kong Le (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Bradley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Le comes into the arena with Ave Maria blaring out of the sound system. Bradley comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Rule Britannia kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kong Le!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul Bradley!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Le throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Bradley counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Le swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Bradley connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Le throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Bradley connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Le scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Le moves out of range of the strikes.
Le misses with a lunging right hand
and Bradley counters with a lovely straight right hand!
A looping hook to the body misses from Le. Bradley does a little dance to reset his feet.
Le tries to land a body kick
and Bradley counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Le throws a lazy uppercut
and Bradley counters with a good, hard body kick but Le shrugs it off.
A punch lands to the side of Bradley 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Bradley throws a lazy uppercut
and Le counters with a thumping low kick.
Le fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Bradley looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Le takes one to the chin there.
Bradley misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Bradley missing with a left hand there. Le was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Le connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Le throws a predictable looking body shot
and Bradley counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Le thinking.
Bradley needs to keep his hands up - Le had a free shot at his head there.
Bradley moves into range and connects with a jab.
Bradley loads up on a big right hand but Le slips the punch.

and Bradley counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Bradley is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Le had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Le throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Bradley counters with a series of strikes. Le will be more careful next time no doubt.
Le takes one to the side of the head.
Bradley lands a jab to the head.
Le throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Bradley might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

and Bradley counters with a head kick. That will keep Le thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

and Bradley makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Le tries to move into range but Bradley moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Bradley tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Bradley sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

and Bradley counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Le throws a leg kick that is checked
and Bradley counters with a left to the body.
Le throws a poor cross that misses
and Bradley connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Bradley lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Bradley throws a hook but Le avoids it easily.
Bradley throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Le stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Bradley throws a sloppy head kick and Le moves out of range easily.
A low kick from Le is predictable there
and Bradley counters with a nice uppercut.
Le looks to throw a body kick
enabling Bradley to counter with a crisp jab.
Le throws a head kick but Bradley moves out of range.
Bradley feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Les jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Bradley sizes up Le with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Le looks to throw a body kick
enabling Bradley to counter with a crisp jab.
Le throws a lazy body kick
and Bradley counters with a stiff right hand.
Le blocks a head kick by Bradley.

and Bradley counters with a nice kick to the body.
Le is breathing heavily.
Le falls off balance throwing a combination
and Bradley counters with a nice uppercut.
Bradley lands a head kick. Le smiles back at him and beckons him forward.


It looks like Kong Le has been cut.

Bradley lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

and Bradley counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A jab lands there for Bradley.
Le misses with a leg kick
and Bradley counters with a nice uppercut.
Bradley throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Le.
Le misses with a right hand
and Bradley counters with a straight right hand.
Le throws a leg kick

and Bradley counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Le's guard now.
Le trying to keep a closed guard but Bradley is proving a slippery customer.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Bradley dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Kong Le's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Bradley throws a jab but it's blocked by Le.
Le looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Sloppy strikes from Bradley. Those never looked like landing.

and Le takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Bradley lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Le at a distance.
Le thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Bradley if he has to take too many more of those.

Kong Le seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Paul Bradley wasn't active enough on the ground.

and Bradley counters with a body kick that stops Le in his tracks momentarily.
Bradley works the jab nicely.
Le gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
A jab from Bradley finds it's way through Le's defenses.

and Bradley cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Bradley throws out a loose jab but Le uses good head movement to avoid it.

and Bradley counters with a big head kick but Le shrugs it off.
Bradley shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Le eats them both and turns towards Bradley to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Le takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Bradley comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Le rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Bradley counters with a straight right hand.
Bradley paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Le looks to throw a body kick
and Le takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Le needs to keep his hands up - Bradley had a free shot at his head there.
Le misses with a lunging right hand

Bradley has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Bradley feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Les jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Paul Bradley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Bradley pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Le lands a nice looking body kick.
Bradley throws a head kick but Le moves out of range.
Le moves out of range of the strikes.
Bradley lands a jab.
Bradley lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Bradley throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Bradley counters with a straight right hand.
Bradley uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Le tries to work over Bradley's front leg with a kick but Bradley checks it.
No joy there for Le, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Bradley lands a nice hook to Le's body. Le takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

That's one minute gone in the round.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Le crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Bradley - the referee stops the clock and Le gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Bradley. Le manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Bradley misses the jab.
Bradley on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Good leg kick by Bradley there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

and Bradley counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Le thinking.
Bradley lands with a straight right. Le didn't see that one coming.

and Bradley counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Bradley scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Le doesn't seem bothered though.
Bradley shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Le on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Bradley loads up on a big right hand but Le slips the punch.
Bradley wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

enabling Bradley to counter with a crisp jab.

Bradley jabs Le to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Le swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Bradley counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Bradley throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Bradley throws a head kick that half lands.
Bradley lands with a hook. Le tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Bradley scores with a shot to the body.

Bradley closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Le to the mat! Le manages to get full guard.

Bradley thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Paul Bradley is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bradley loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Kong Le has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Bradley is looking to advance position but Le won't allow it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Paul Bradley comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bradley has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
