PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Sliva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Grizwold (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sliva comes to the cage accompanied by Downtime. On his way into the cage it seems that Anderson Sliva has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Anderson Sliva seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Sliva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mark Grizwold!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Paulo Santos and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sliva shoots and misses
letting Grizwold counter with a right hand.

Grizwold closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Sliva quickly recovers to half guard.

Grizwold trying to work for an americana but Sliva has managed to regain full guard.
Grizwold slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like Grizwold might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Grizwold stands and throws Sliva's legs to the side, diving into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
An elbow from Grizwold crashes against the mat.

Grizwold tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Sliva is breathing heavily.
Grizwold moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Grizwold tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Grizwold has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Grizwold controlling the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Grizwold misses with the ground and pound.
Grizwold creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Sliva sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Grizwold decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Grizwold closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Sliva did well to prevent Grizwold getting side control.

Grizwold is working for a kimura but Sliva is defending it quite comfortably.
Grizwold is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Grizwold cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Grizwold content just to control the position here.
Sliva wants to hold on but Grizwold pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Grizwold dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Grizwold shoots in and bounces Sliva off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Grizwold works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Sliva blocking the ground and pound attempt from Grizwold.
Grizwold controlling the action here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Grizwold is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Grizwold looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Grizwold content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Grizwold looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Grizwold is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Grizwold is trying for a kimura here. Sliva looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Grizwold wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Mark Grizwold!
