PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Haddith Stewart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson comes to the cage accompanied by National Anthem of Hawaii . Both these guys are coming into the fight with injuries so let's see if that has a bearing on the fight. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Jackson duly obliges.


It looks like Haddith Stewart has been cut.
Jackson is breathing heavily.
Horrible takedown by Stewart or perhaps it was just good defense by Jackson which made him look bad.

Jackson tries to sprawl but Stewart drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Stewart is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jackson is just riding it out for now. Stewart eventually gives up the hold.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Stewart lands a nice short elbow.
Stewart is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Stewart has control of Jackson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Jackson regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Stewart manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Jackson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Stewart shoots for a double leg takedown but Jackson sprawls well. He's pushed Stewart's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Stewart takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stewart thows a huge punch but Jackson dodges it nicely.

Haddith Stewart showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Jackson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Stewart dives in and grabs Jackson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jackson pushes down on Stewart's head and hops out.

Jackson lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Jackson.

and Stewart counters with a shoot takedown. Jackson fights it but they end up in guard.
Haddith Stewart has got the better of the ground game so far.

Stewart gets to his feet - Jackson follows without any prompting.
Jackson is looking to wear down Stewart with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

and Stewart counters by clinching up.

Stewart breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jackson throws a chopping leg kick but Stewart manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Jackson leaves Stewart with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Stewart stands up and waves to Jackson to follow him.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stewart accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Stewart drops back looking for a leg! Jackson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jackson manages to kick Stewart off! Stewart jumps back into Jackson's guard.

Stewart postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jackson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Stewart, into his guard.
Jackson wants to stand and escape but instead Stewart has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Stewart drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Stewart jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Anthony Jackson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Haddith Stewart comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Stewart winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
