Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lapierre misses with a body shot
and Lapierre takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Lapierre takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Lapierre misses with a left hand
and Scalante counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Scalante steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Lapierre. That one must have hurt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Scalante is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Lapierre.
Lapierre misses with a body shot
and Scalante counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Lapierre throws a sloppy head kick and Scalante moves out of range easily.
Lapierre throws a combination that misses
letting Scalante counter with a right hand.

Lapierre tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Scalante manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Lapierre fails in his attempt to clinch.
Scalante fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Lapierre looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Lapierre doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Scalante on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Scalante circles away from the clinch attempt
and Scalante counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

and Scalante counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Scalante lands a body shot.
Scalante lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Scalante scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Lapierre is breathing heavily.
Lapierre misses with a combination
and Scalante counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Lapierre thinking.
Scalante lands a slapping body shot.
Lapierre misses with an uppercut
and Scalante counters with a nice uppercut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lapierre takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Scalante lands a jab to the nose.
Scalante connects with the punch.
Scalante cracks Lapierre with a good jab.
Scalante scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Scalante lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Scalante is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Lapierre had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Donk. Scalante catches Lapierre right on the button with a cross.

Scalante throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Lapierre on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Michael Lapierre seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lapierre has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Lapierre there as he acknowledges the shot.
Scalante throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Lapierre stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
A jab from Scalante finds it's way through Lapierre's defenses.

Lapierre with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Scalante to score with a decent uppercut.

and Scalante counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Lapierre thinking.

Scalante thuds a left hand into Lapierre's body.
Scalante connects with a looping right hand.
Scalante scores with a shot to the body.
Scalante jabs Lapierre to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Scalante fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Lapierre looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Good shot there by Scalante.
Scalante cracks Lapierre with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Scalante drops Lapierre with a beautiful combination! Lapierre stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Scalante is looking for the KO!

Lapierre is rocked!
Lapierre takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Oh Lapierre is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Lapierre looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Lapierre's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Scalante connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Lapierre scrambles back to his feet.
Scalante lands a body shot.
Lapierre seems to have got his legs back now.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Scalante gets in close and tags Lapierre with a short punch that almost sends Lapierre to the mat! Oh Lapierre is in big trouble! He turns his back on Scalante, trying to create some distance but Scalante rushes him, striking wildly and Lapierre goes down! The referee tackles Scalante into the ropes to end the fight! Scalante is one violent man!
