The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machida misses with a few strikes there.
Machida tries for a takedown but Stone circles away easily
and Stone counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Stone misses with a head kick.
Machida tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Stone paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Machida gets caught flat footed, as Stone shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Machida tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Machida has his feet on Stone's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Stone drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Stone controlling the position from side mount.
Machida is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Machida wants to control but Stone postures up.

An elbow from Stone crashes against the mat.
Machida is trying to get back to half guard.
Stone scores with punches from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Machida manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Stone with the ground and pound but Machida uses the opportunity to regain guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Machida is on top in guard.
Machida not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Stone knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Machida on the ground.
Machida throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Machida wants to control from the top but Stone keeps moving.

Machida wants to get up but he can't break Stone's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Machida passes into half guard.
Stone tries to get to full guard but Machida has control of the leg.
Machida wants to take a breather but Stone is having none of it.
Stone looks like he's trying to stand up.
Stone won't allow Machida to pass to mount.

Stone wants to control the action here but instead Machida manages to pass to full mount!
Machida throws some wild stikes that Stone manages to avoid easily.
Stone on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Stone tries to get out of the position.
Machida with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
A nice elbow there by Machida.
