Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Blair (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mahut Uno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jimmy Blair had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Jimmy Blair!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mahut Uno!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Skip Squint and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blair jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Blair keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Uno shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Blair sprawls well. Blair wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Uno gets slowly back to his feet.

Uno closes the distance and clinches.
Uno misses with a short punch on the inside.
Good body shot from Uno.
Blair wants to break the clinch but can't.
Blair blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Uno lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Uno lands a nice uppercut.
Uno keeps control of Blair as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Uno drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jimmy Blair has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mahut Uno.
Uno throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Blair breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Uno counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Blair is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Uno is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Uno lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Uno tries for a takedown but Blair manages to get underhooks.

Blair is trying to break the clinch but Uno has him pressed against the cage.
Blair is pressed up against the cage. Uno has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Blair down to the mat. Blair avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Blair throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Uno sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Blair ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Blair throws a lazy right hand but Uno sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Uno looks to score with a jab to the body but Blair is just out of range.

and Uno counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Uno.

Mahut Uno dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Uno tries to score with some ground and pound. Blair controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Blair tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Uno wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Uno is looking to take a break and control but Blair is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Uno has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Blair gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Uno tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Uno's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Blair is squirming around, avoiding Uno's attempts to control the action.
Uno misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Blair is trying to reverse the position but instead Uno has taken his back - oops!

Uno controlling the position well here. Blair rolled but Uno kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Blair knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Uno on the ground.

Uno is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Blair knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Blair for a finish.

Uno has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Blair has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Blair controls Uno momentarily but Uno frees himself.

Uno is fighting to break Blair's control of his arms but Blair is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Uno slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
