PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between mark ferrell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Braxton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). ferrell comes to the cage accompanied by Six Feet Under War Machine. Marcus Braxton has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Daniel Bishop and Andrew Berry.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
ferrell wants to clinch.
ferrell tries to clinch but Braxton is having none of it.

Braxton shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Braxton showed some decent athleticism there.

ferrell is staying active underneath Braxton, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
ferrell tries to get to full guard but Braxton has control of the leg.
It looks like Braxton is going to stand back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
ferrell on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Braxton is controlling the pace.

Braxton is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

ferrell pushes Braxton off looking to stand but Braxton dives back in and keeps control.
Braxton has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
ferrell is wriggling around trying to escape.
ferrell wants to hold on but Braxton pushes him away.
ferrell is controlling an arm, preventing Braxton from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Braxton has control of ferrell's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and ferrell regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Braxton fails to take his opponent's back.
Braxton can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as ferrell is looking to escape.
ferrell is trying to escape the mount.

Braxton wants to finish this one by submission but ferrell is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Braxton.

ferrell tries to lock up and control but Braxton gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
ferrell might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

ferrell could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
ferrell is desperately trying to improve his position but Braxton has a good base and remains in mount.
ferrell flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.

Braxton throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
ferrell is trying desperately to improve position.

Braxton is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but ferrell is surviving well by controlling Braxton's body position as best he can.

Braxton has hold of ferrell's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and ferrell manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Braxton stands up from mount. Strange move.
Braxton tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but ferrell swivels and escapes.
ferrell is looking to clinch.

Braxton closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Braxton lands in his opponent's guard.
Braxton wants to control from the top but ferrell keeps moving.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcus Braxton dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Braxton lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
ferrell misses with a takedown attempt - Braxton sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Braxton gets the takedown into side control.

ferrell wants to control but Braxton postures up.

Braxton is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, ferrell has escaped the position, nice work there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Braxton thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Braxton jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… ferrell is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by ferrell and Braxton has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Despite being in the dominant position, Marcus Braxton just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Horrible takedown by Braxton or perhaps it was just good defense by ferrell which made him look bad.
ferrell throws a left and a right that both miss

and Braxton counters with a nice double leg into side control. ferrell won't be happy with that.
ferrell is trying to buck Braxton off.

Braxton has an Americana. ferrell didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Braxton is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Braxton hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
