Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carsena throws a combination that misses
enabling Honda to counter with a crisp jab.

Carsena drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Honda manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Carsena has Honda in his guard.

Honda is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Carsena is just riding it out for now. Honda eventually gives up the hold.
Honda looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Carsena with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Keisuke Honda dominated that round.
That's time! Carsena's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Carsena counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Honda. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Eric Carsena seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Honda connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Honda bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.


It looks like Eric Carsena has been cut.
Carsena throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Honda counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Honda postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Honda takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Honda in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Carsena tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Honda!
