Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gilbert Hernandez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jackson takes the fight into the clinch.
Jackson misses with some punches.
Hernandez is looking to break free of the clinch but Jackson has double underhooks.

Jackson jumps guard and drags Hernandez to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Hernandez trying to control the position from guard on top but Jackson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Hernandez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jackson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hernandez has managed to get both his arms back between Jackson's legs - danger averted.
Hernandez slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jackson is trying to improve his position.

An elbow from Hernandez crashes against the mat.
Hernandez creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Jackson sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Jackson managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Hernandez.
The ground and pound from Hernandez seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hernandez is looking to take a break and control but Jackson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hernandez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hernandez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Jackson regains half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jackson blocking the ground and pound attempt from Hernandez.
Hernandez wants to control but Jackson is keeping him busy.
Hernandez is pressing down on Jackson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jackson is holding on for now.

Hernandez seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Jackson is looking to control Hernandez's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jackson avoid being mounted?

The ref stands the fighters back up because Gilbert Hernandez just wasn't active enough.
Hernandez ducks right into an uppercut from Jackson.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jackson misses with an uppercut
and Jackson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Hernandez has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Hernandez there as he acknowledges the shot.
Jackson misses with a hook
letting Hernandez counter with a right hand.

Jackson rushes Hernandez and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Chris Jackson will probably get the nod.
That's time! Hernandez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


A punch combination from Jackson misses.
Hernandez dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Jackson. That did some damage!
Hernandez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jackson pinned against the cage. Jackson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Hernandez tries to clinch but Jackson is having none of it.

Jackson moves into range and clinches up with Hernandez.
Jackson lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Hernandez backwards.
Hernandez is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Jackson is keeping busy.
Jackson lands a nice uppercut.


It looks like Gilbert Hernandez has been cut.
Jackson scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Hernandez blocks an uppercut.
Jackson lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Jackson lands with a right to the head.
Jackson gets underhooks to prevent Hernandez's takedown attempt.
Hernandez drops down looking for an ankle pick but Jackson pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gilbert Hernandez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hernandez throws out a leg kick but Jackson moves out of range and Hernandez only half commits.
Hernandez connects with a solid leg kick.
Jackson swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Hernandez.

and Hernandez counters with a shoot takedown. Jackson fights it but they end up in guard.

Hernandez works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Hernandez stalling away here and it's allowed Jackson to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Hernandez looking to sit in guard and control but Jackson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Jackson has gone for a leg lock! Hernandez slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jackson's guard.

Hernandez avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Hernandez tries to free his leg and advance position but Jackson is retaining full guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Gilbert Hernandez will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Gilbert Hernandez's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Jackson misses with the combination.
Jackson missing with a left hand there. Hernandez was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Hernandez tries to clinch but Jackson is having none of it.
Jackson lunges at Hernandez with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Hernandez's hand.
Hernandez looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Jackson throws a big shot that misses.
Jackson swats away the attempt to clinch by Hernandez.
Hernandez looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Hernandez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hernandez lands in his opponent's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hernandez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hernandez wants to get up but he can't break Jackson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Jackson wants to sweep but no luck.
Hernandez tries to free his leg and advance position but Jackson is retaining full guard.
Hernandez passes Jackson's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Hernandez trying to control from Jackson's half guard. Jackson has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Hernandez trying to control but Jackson is working from the bottom.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hernandez slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Jackson controls Hernandez momentarily but Hernandez frees himself.
Jackson has a closed guard, preventing Hernandez from standing up.
Hernandez has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Hernandez advances to half guard.
Hernandez thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jackson's head.

Hernandez decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jackson lands with a straight right. Hernandez didn't see that one coming.
Jackson takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Jackson misses with an uppercut. Hernandez saw that one coming.
Hernandez tries to clinch there but Jackson circles away.
Jackson misses with a hook.
Hernandez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Jackson scores with a three punch combo!
Jackson lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Jackson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A combination from Jackson does no damage.

Jackson catches Hernandez with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Jackson clinches.
Hernandez keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Jackson's efforts to push away.
Jackson lands with a left to the head.

And that's the end of the fight!
Chris Jackson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Jackson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
