And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Qusid tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mason swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Qusid fails with the takedown.
Mason tries to clinch but Qusid is having none of it.

Qusid gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mason won't allow Qusid to get back to his feet.
Mason wanted to stand there but Qusid had control of the position.
Mason pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Qusid is keeping the position for now.
Qusid controls Mason momentarily but Mason frees himself.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Qusid is on top in guard.

Mason is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Qusid is controlling him.

Mason tries to get to full guard but Qusid has control of the leg.

and Mason decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Qusid's guard.
Qusid looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mason is one step ahead there.
Mason keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Qusid's head.

Mason knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Qusid on the ground.

Mason is stalling here. Qusid is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Mason seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Qusid has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Mason takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Mason takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Qusid wants to stand but Mason is controlling his arm.
Qusid wants to control but Mason is keeping him busy.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Qusid fails with the takedown

and Mason counters with a shoot takedown. Qusid fights it but they end up in guard.
Mason is standing up over Qusid. Qusid looks to escape but Mason dives into side control.
Qusid is looking for a sweep.
Qusid wants to control but Mason postures up.
Jason Mason overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Mason is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Qusid is on top in guard.

Qusid drops back looking for a leg! Mason is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mason manages to kick Qusid off! Qusid jumps back into Mason's guard.

Mason has momentary wrist control but Qusid slips an elbow through the middle.
Qusid wants to control from the top but Mason keeps moving.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jason Qusid.
Qusid shoots for a double leg takedown but Mason sprawls well. He's pushed Qusid's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Mason is just content to waste time from the top position. Qusid takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Qusid throws a sloppy head kick and Mason moves out of range easily.

Mason tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Qusid just stands there and leans against the cage.

Mason jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Qusid walks away with a smile on his face. Mason gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Mason is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Qusid is on top in guard.
Mason wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Qusid is now in half guard.
Qusid frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Qusid is landing with some decent strikes but Mason is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Qusid goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Mason is on top in guard.

Mason wants to get up but he can't break Qusid's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
