PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jesse Hall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mo Kendo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Mo Kendo was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jesse Hall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mo Kendo!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hall clinches up against the cage.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Hall just misses with a elbow thrown towards Kendo's brow.
Hall tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kendo smiles and moves away.

Kendo gets the takedown into side control.
Hall manages to get back to half guard.
Hall keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Hall is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Kendo trying to control the action but Hall is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kendo is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Kendo wants to pass to mount but Hall is defending the position.
Hall moves into full guard.
Kendo is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kendo trying to control but Hall is working from the bottom.
Kendo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kendo is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Kendo drops back looking for a leg! Hall is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hall manages to kick Kendo off! Kendo jumps back into Hall's guard.
Hall tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Hall looking for a guillotine here but Kendo defends easily.
Kendo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hall swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kendo loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kendo looking to pass the guard.
Kendo thows a big elbow that misses.
Kendo with a flurry of punches that miss.
Hall looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kendo is one step ahead there.

Hall looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Kendo has picked Hall up and slammed him! Hall can't keep hold of the triangle and Kendo manages to pass to side control!
Hall is breathing heavily.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Kendo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Kendo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hall knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Kendo in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kendo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hall has escaped the position, nice work there.

Kendo working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Hall is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Kendo's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Kendo seems to be looking for submissions.
Kendo looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hall with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Kendo is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Hall sees it coming and defends easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hall moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Kendo trying to control the position from guard on top but Hall is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kendo connects with a couple of short punches.

Hall is looking for a triangle but Kendo pushes his legs off easily.
Kendo advances position into side control!

Kendo tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Hall tries to improve position but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mo Kendo dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Kendo shoots in and gets a takedown into Hall's guard.

Kendo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Kendo postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Hall looking for a guillotine here but Kendo defends easily.
Kendo passes Hall's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Kendo is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hall has managed to free his arm - good work.
Hall tries to roll over but Kendo keeps him under control.
Hall is refusing to be controlled, as Kendo sits in half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hall is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kendo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kendo's back!
Kendo manages to reverse the position and now he's in Hall's guard. Nice work there by Kendo.
Kendo seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Kendo lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Kendo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Hall wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Kendo is now in half guard.

Kendo wants to work for an arm triangle but Hall is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Kendo lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Kendo is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Hall is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Kendo wants to work for an arm triangle but Hall is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Kendo has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Hall defend it? Kendo steps over the head and cranks it - Hall is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Kendo!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Mo Kendo!
