PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nick Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Manny Pacquiao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 12 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Manny Pacquiao!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksandr Martynov and Dmitry Maklakov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter looks to clinch

and Pacquiao counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Carter controls Pacquiao momentarily but Pacquiao frees himself.
Pacquiao wants to stand but Carter has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Pacquiao stopping the sweep attempt from Carter.
Carter manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pacquiao manages to get himself to full guard.

Pacquiao is looking to stand up but Carter isn't so interested in that idea.
Pacquiao is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Nick Carter has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Carter lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

It looks like Manny Pacquiao has been cut.
Carter doesn't manage to clinch there - Pacquiao circles away.
Carter throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Carter lands a body shot.
Carter works Pacquiao's body with a nice hook.
Carter connects with a body shot.
Carter tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pacquiao was well out of range. Poor timing from Carter.
Pacquiao misses with a double jab.
Carter cracks Pacquiao with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Carter cracks Pacquiao with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Pacquiao tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Carter pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Pacquiao is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
