Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mawae shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Mawae was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Hewston is wriggling around trying to escape.
Mawae is trying to take his opponent's back.
Hewston wants to control but Mawae is having none of it.
Mawae is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Hewston can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Hewston regains half guard.
Hewston is looking to control Mawae's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hewston avoid being mounted?
Hewston makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hewston.
Hewston throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Mawae escapes and throws Hewston's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Hewston wants to control but Mawae postures up.
Hewston is looking for a sweep.
Hewston throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Hewston is trying to improve his position.
You can see the frustration on Hewston's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Hewston is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mawae pulls his head out easily.

Hewston looks gassed!
Mawae wants to take a breather but Hewston is having none of it.
Mawae wants to free his trapped foot but Hewston is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Hewston trying to control but Mawae postures up.
Hewston wants to improve his position but Mawae is controlling well.

Mawae throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Mawae thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Mawae perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Hewston looking for submissions off his back.
Mawae knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hewston on the ground.
Hewston is looking to improve his position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hewston is defending against the submission attempts here by Mawae.
Hewston has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mawae is working away from the top position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Aamakualenalena Mawae dominated that round.
That's time! Mawae's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Hewston circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mawae misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hewston darts in trying to clinch
and Mawae counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Hewston's guard now.
Hewston escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mawae gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Hewston keeping moving, preventing Mawae from controlling successfully.

Mawae is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Mawae trying to control but Hewston is working from the bottom.
Hewston working for a triangle but Mawae defends it easily.
Hewston has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mawae can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Mawae trying to control the position from guard on top but Hewston is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Hewston pushes a forearm under Mawae's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Mawae is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
