The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Julaton misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Diaz.
Julaton tries to clinch but Diaz is having none of it.
Diaz takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Julaton pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Diaz shoots in but no luck this time.
Diaz shoots in and drives through. Julaton sprawls well.

Diaz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Julaton walks away with a smile on his face. Diaz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
John Julaton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nate Diaz.
Julaton is looking to clinch but Diaz is avoiding it.

and Julaton counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Diaz.
Julaton stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Julaton wants it to stay on the feet.
Diaz throws a head kick that misses.

Julaton throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Diaz.
Diaz moves to clinch but Julaton breaks away
and Julaton cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Diaz looks to score with a jab to the body but Julaton is just out of range.
Julaton fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Diaz on the side of the head.

and Diaz counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Julaton is breathing heavily.
Diaz passes Julaton's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Diaz is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Diaz frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Julaton is bucking up trying to escape but Diaz cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
A nice elbow there by Diaz.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Diaz working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Julaton turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Diaz off and cradles Julaton's limp body as Diaz celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Nate Diaz!
