PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stanley Montourski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Bader (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bader is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Darth Vader. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stanley Montourski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 1, fighting out of New York, Ryan Bader!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Roberts and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Montourski throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Bader fails with the takedown
and Montourski counters with a nice uppercut.
Bader misses with a takedown
and Montourski counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Bader has his takedown stuffed
and Montourski makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Stanley Montourski has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Bader.
Bader wants to clinch but Montourski slips to the side

and Montourski counters with a takedown into side control.
Montourski tries to score with some ground and pound. Bader controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Bader is not content to let Montourski control the position.

Montourski has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bader is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bader is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Montourski tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Montourski wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bader keeps working.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Bader wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Montourski looks to land a combination but Bader avoids it well.

Montourski lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Bader tries to escape but Montourski is in control.

Montourski lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Bader down.
Bader is pushing Montourski's head away, looking to escape. Montourski manages to hold on to the position though.

Montourski wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Bader, who protects the arm well.

Montourski has hold of Bader's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Bader tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Montourski cranks the arm and Bader screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Bader, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Stanley Montourski!
